Baramulla, Sep 23 (KNO): Baramulla Police on Wednesday attached a double-storeyed residential property in Namblan village of Sheeri under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in connection with a terror-related case, officials said.
In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a spokesperson said that, continuing its action against terror networks and their support infrastructure, Baramulla Police attached a residential property under Section 25 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, in connection with FIR No. 37/2026 of Police Station Sheeri.
He said the case stands registered under Sections 7/25 of the Arms Act and Sections 13, 18, 19, 20, 23, 38 & 39 of the UAPA. The attached property comprises a double-storeyed residential house situated on land bearing Survey No. 423 at Village Namblan, Sheeri, Baramulla, belonging to accused Aijaz Ahmad Ganie S/o Late Mohammad Sultan Ganie.
The spokesperson said that, during the course of the investigation, the property was found, prima facie, to have been used for providing shelter and logistical support to terrorists and facilitating terrorist activities, thereby attracting the relevant provisions of the UAPA concerning proceeds of terrorism.
“The attachment was carried out after obtaining requisite approval from the Director General of Police, J&K, conveyed vide Order No. 2695 of 2026 dated 22.09.2026. A public notice was also displayed at the property, prohibiting its sale, transfer, lease, mortgage or creation of any third-party interest,” said the spokesperson.
He said the action forms part of Baramulla Police’s sustained efforts to disrupt and dismantle the logistical and support infrastructure of terror networks and to proceed, in accordance with law, against persons and properties found involved in facilitating terrorist activities.
Baramulla Police reiterated its commitment to safeguarding public security and taking firm, lawful action against terror networks and their support structures.—(KNO)
